DIY your Dampener Knight Series apply some really hard dampener to satisfy the 3D pilots' need. However, the best dampener hardness sometime depends on the weather conditions. when temperature of the day get higher, dampener tends to get softer. When it is colder, dampener tends to get harder. If your knight wob a bit when under 1700rpm, the dampener might be a bit too hard. Here is the way to make it softer. as shown on left, put the dampener on your starter, turn the starter on, use a file to cut a chamfer 1~1.5mm. The more you cut, the softer it gets, but we do not suggest any chamfer over 1.5mm as then you are under a serious risk of boom strike. Soft dampener result in a 'softer' 3D, but hard dampener sometime cause wobbing when RPM is too low. We suggest cut the chamfer bit by bit to get the best hardness u need. When assemblying, make sure the unchamfered side facing the centre hub. If this is still too hard for you, or you like to use metal grips, or you like to practice FAI style, then try our red dampener which is even softer. |
